To prepare students through focus on specialization in addictions counseling, based in the latest research in addictions studies and engaging them in real-world learning experiences.

Career Opportunities

CDCAs work with individuals in recovery in both inpatient and outpatient settings to coordinate treatment planning, assessment, crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, case management, and education services as they relate to abuse of or dependency on alcohol and other drugs..

Students can, and should, advance their CDCA I (preliminary) certification to the CDCA II certification. With additional education, students can advance to the level of Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) II, III, and Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC).
