Adult Admission Procedures

Enrolling in our School is as easy as 1-2-3

Step 1:

A Pre-Entrance Exam is required for all full time (at least 600 clock hours) Allied Health, Cosmetology, and Computer Technology Programs.  The test will be given at the Coal Grove campus of Collins Career Center.  Please call 740-532-7405 for dates and times. You do not need to pre-register to take the test, however, you will need to arrive about 15 minutes early to allow sufficient time for registration, to pay your fee, and find the room.  There is a $25 non-refundable test fee to take the pre-entrance exam.  We will accept either cash or money order (NO checks) and you must have with you a legitimate picture I.D., such as a driver's license.  The only exemption to the ACT Work Keys Pre-Entrance Exam of 21 or higher on the ACT College Exam taken within the last 5 years.

Pre-Entrance Assessment Evaluation exams are also required for those interested in attending the Police Academy (Basic Law Enforcement).  The fee of $5.00 is to be paid before taking the evaluation.  The assessment evaluation for these programs is given on Mondays at 3:00pm at the Collins Career Center in Coal Grove.  You will need to pre-register (by phone) to take this assessment evaluation, please call 740-532-7405.

Step 2:

Your test scores will be faxed to Collins Career Center.  The secretary will mail you your results along with an explanation of your scores.  Individuals with a passing score will be mailed an application for admission.  This must be completed (in full) before you can be admitted to class.  Certain programs will require additional admission criteria, please contact the Adult Education office for more information.  Upon returning a completed application to Collins Career Center, there will be a $10.00 application fee for students entering any full-time Adult Education program and a $100.00 non-refundable deposit for students entering any program of 1100 hours or more.

Step 3:

You will need to make arrangements to take care of you financial obligations.  Collins Career Center offers PELL grants and student loans for those who qualify.  Instructions for filing a FAFSA on-line can be retrieved when you return your completed application.  You may also arrange a payment plan with the financial aid office.
