Program Overview
The Radiologic Technology
program at Collins Career Center is a four (4) semester, two
(2) year program. Students attend twenty-four (24)
consecutive months with a summer break during the month of
July.
Students graduate in
December of each year and are awarded a Certificate of
Completion upon successful completion of the program, and
are eligible to sit for the National Registry Exam for
Radiologic Technologists. Success in passing this exam bring
students to a Registered Radiologic Technologist
status.
Didactic classes begin with
the spring semester in January each year. Clinical
instruction will begin with the fall semester in August of the
first year. Students are given a didactic/clinical schedule
at the beginning of the program. Classes are subject to
change.
Graduation (Certificate)
Repuirements:

The student must achieve
a 75%, C, or above in each didactic course comprising the
curriculum of the program.

curriculum of the program.

a 75%, C, or above on all clinical competency evaluations.

The student must complete
and pass the required clinical competency exams.

The student must complete
an average of 2400 contact hours.
The competencies required
of each graduate of the Radiologic Technology Program are
designed to comply with the clinical competency requirements
adopted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Mission
Statement:
To serve our community needs by preparing
students to obtain an entry level position in the field of
radiologic technology.
Program Goals:
1. The student will be clinically competent.

The student will exercise critical thinking and problem
solving skills.

The student will understand the importance of
professionalism within the field of radiologic technology.
Admission Requirements
**The Application Deadline for the
Radiologic Technology Program is the LAST FRIDAY of MAY**
Prior to acceptance into the Radiologic
Technology Program, a student must have completed the
following:
1.
General Education courses.
Courses may be completed at any post-secondary institution.
For courses to qualify for the Associates of Applied Sciences
degree in Radiologic Technology through Marshall University,
they must be accepted and successfully transferred to Marshall
University Community and Technical College. This transfer
process is the sole responsibility of the student. A minimum
of 12 hours must be taken directly on Marshall Campus to be
granted the Associates degree.

To get an application to the
Radiology program you must complete numbers 2 or 3.

Minimum ACT score of 21 OR

Successful completion of the
pre-entrance (Work Keys) examination with a score of four (4)
in Locating for Information, and five (5) in both the Math and
Reading for Comprehension.
4.
Twelve (12) hours of general
diagnostic radiography shadowing completed at a qualifying
medical institution.
High School and Post-Secondary GPA
are also weighted factors in the application process. Points
will be awarded for the following:
Completion of College Chemistry
and/or Psychology with a grade of "C" or better will be
awarded additional points.
