Programs offered in the area of Education
and Training are related to technical and professional level careers
in planning, managing, and providing education and training services
and related learning support services.
Early Childhood Education and Care
Early Childhood Education
and Care is a two-year program designed to qualify students as child
care assistants in daycare centers, nursery schools, preschools, and
Head Start classrooms. Students in this program learn about the
growth and development of preschool age children and how to plan and
implement activities under the guidelines of the National
Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Students
are able to practice the skills learned in this program in the Head
Start Center locate in Collins Career Center. This experience may
be applied toward a Child Development Associate credential.

Graduates of this program may enter adult
education or technical school programs in child care services
management, teacher assistance, or college degree programs in
education or a related field.
Employment Opportunities
Graduates of the Early Childhood Education
and Care program may work as a teacher aid or teacher assistant in
day care centers or as a day care business owner.
