Early Childhood Education and Care

Early Childhood Education is a two year program designed to qualify students as childcare assistants in daycare centers, nursery schools, preschools, and Head Start classrooms. Classroom and practical learning experiences provide instruction in safe and healthy learning environments. The curriculum also focuses on age appropriate activities to develop physical and intellectual competence, social and emotional development, positive guidance, and developing positive and productive relationships with families. Other topics include the importance of providing a program responsive to the individual child's needs, and professionalism.

This program also provides the opportunity to take Early Childhood Education a step further by offering a curriculum that will qualify the student for a "Child Development Associate" certification that is internationally recognized.

Early Childhood Education and Care Foundations Class

Early Childhood Education and Care Foundation Class is an entry level course designed to introduce fundamental knowledge and skills in child development principles and developmentally appropriate activities for children ages birth to age nine. This course will complement the ECE course as a prerequisite as well as offer the one year student guidance in parenting skills and the opportunity for career exploration.
